I have a real love/hate relationship with contact lenses. Sometimes I can wear them and not even notice they are in, other times it feels like there’s a piece of grit stuck in my eye.
I’ve been wearing glasses and contact lenses since I was sixteen years old. Primarily for vanity reasons, I wore contact lenses more often than glasses.
About fifteen years ago I underwent laser eye surgery. It was a total success, and I enjoyed many years of being contact lens and glasses free.
Unfortunately, age caught up with me, and my eyesight started to deteriorate again into my forties.
I started wearing glasses again – you know, the cool, designer types, along with prescription sunglasses.
But due to my job as a firefighter, I really need contact lenses. Plus I don’t like wearing glasses on an evening out.
So I researched the best contact lenses that would fit my lifestyle. I decided that daily, disposable lenses would work best for me.
It means I can simply insert a new, fresh pair of lenses whenever I need them, and throw them away before going to bed.
Up until recently, I have been using 1 Day Acuvue Moist contact lenses.
These have more water content than most types of daily lenses, and therefore should feel more comfortable when wearing them.
Again, some days they feel great, other days one of the lenses will not sit right, and annoy the shit out of me!
The other day, my supply was coming to an end so I decided to research again for the best/cheapest lenses I could find.
New Kid On The Block
After wasting around 3 hours of my life to save a couple of quid, I discovered Comfi Contact Lenses.
They are a relatively new brand of lens supplied by Feel Good Contacts.
I’ve been using FGC for a year or so now, and they deliver next day. So I ordered a 30 day supply and (low and behold) they arrived the next day (last Saturday).
It always makes me smile when I open the box because they usually throw in a little packet of Haribo. My wife is an absolute Haribo fiend, and will walk over hot coals to get to them!
So she gets a little Haribo fix, and I get a wee Brownie point! 🙂
Sooo..today is the second day I’ve worn these new Comfi Contact Lenses, and I’ve got a warm, fuzzy feeling about them.
Comfort
As the name implies, these bad boys sit very comfortably against my eyes, and whilst not 100% unnoticeable, they come pretty close.
Comfi are 58% water, so less plastic to irritate you. They also have UV protection – bonus!
Price
They are approximately 20% cheaper than the 1 Day Acuvue Moist.
At the time of ordering, I paid £15.98+ £2.99 postage for a 30 day supply. If I order 3 months worth, the postage is free.
This works out at about 50p each wear. That’s pretty competitive.
Conclusion
So far, so feel-good (see what I did there?)
The Comfi Contact Lenses are cheaper than most other brands and are very comfortable to wear.
If you want to save yourself a few quid, try them out for a month.
They are as good, if not better, than any lenses I’ve tried in the past.
Anyone else tried them, or other brands you would recommend?
Peter
That’s a great review, thanks (including the warning about lasered eyes still changing over time) and you plainly like those Comfi lenses.
I’ve been using Acuvue too and decided to try the Comfi when FeelGoodContacts offered them. .
Comfortable, yes, they seem good value too and vision is clear.
However, for me there’s a but. I found them really difficult to remove.
With Acuvue I just squeeze eyelids onto the eye with my fingers (like a power blink) and the lens creases and is out.
But the Comfi took a while to get out – in the end I had to actually pinch the lens off my eyeball.
How do you get on with removal? Got any tips please.
I hope if you reply here that I’d get a notification.
Thanks.
Can these be order from the US? Would love to try them. You contact experience sounds very similar to mine and I have struggled for years to find ones that we’re comfortable.
