Day 56 Head to An Bang

I remember I need a SIM card and turns out reception can magic one up in 10 mins.

Turns out though you get unlimited data with Vinaphone… not Viettel who are actually good!

Lesson for the day.

So we head to Dragonsea Homestay in An Bang, 30 mins in a Grab south.

The room has a balcony, nice, and a pool view.

There is huge bed but on a shelf so climbing on and off.. not hip friendly.

Its not the cleanest.

We go to the beach in the afternoon.

The waves are pretty big, no swimming but we can get in and jump around.

We return to The Fisherman restaurant on the sea front at night.

It’s the Vegan we used last year.

Still good vege curry but damp seats and no music or people. Hmm.

An Bang is literally 1 main street about 500m long long, running parallel to the sea.

There is a network of small lanes with the homestays and small restaurants and shops in between the sea and the main street.

We can walk the street up and down in 15 mins. Its a nightly routine.

Day 57 Beach Day

We go to the beach and sit at Dolphin restaurant for the day.

Free sunbeds in exchange for buying terrible smoothies and overpriced fruit and food.

We sit under a shade and people watch and read new book. Jo Nesbo – Police. Another good crime thriller. Obsessed.

Only exercise is walking just now, pool.very small.

So we walk the beach – it’s about 1k long, at least.

Pete not hobbling too bad.

We head out to The Purple Lantern for dinner  – a great choice.

I go for the vege curry again..but its rich and thick… food is soooo good.

Pete gets crispy pork.. good but not a patch on Huan Hin Market apparently.

Still avoiding booze. But I note they have Dalat Wine ???? for later.

Day 58 Migraine

Morning swim and then another beach day.

Sit at The Plage this time as this has good food reviews – and not ALL of them fake.

Long beach walk.

I try the Cau Lau which is local to Hoi An area. Udon noodles, vegs and tofu in a sweet dark soup.

Plus not thinking it would be big (£1.50) got a ‘side’ of lemongrass and chilli tofu… enough food for 3!

Then I get a migraine… like being stabbed in the left eye.

We don’t go out again at night. Too full anyway!

Day 59 Stingray for tea

The weather will change Sunday to clouds and maybe rain so making most of the beach time.

We head along the beach to Rau Coffee and Bar. They seem to be the only place for egg coffee around here.

I am in love with egg coffee.

Egg coffee seemed to miraculously cure my head last time I had it. I am hoping for the same thing again.

No such luck. But it helps a bit.

This is a lovely part of the beach, no kids or games.

Pete swims but too rough for me.

I am trying to avoid sun to see if it helps my head!

When we head back we see them serving fish and clam chowder on the beach.

We decide to come back out and eat from one of the two little stalls.

But clam chowder lady is all out.

Pete decides to order ‘I dunno what we are getting’ from the other stall.

It takes an hour and meantime the full moon has come out.

There are a few people sitting around still.

The cook comes finds us with our food. Stingray in lemongrass and chilli and garlic!

Done on a small bbq and eaten with rice paper, cucumber and salad leaves.

A memorable meal!

Tastes good but messy!

I try to drag Pete out to see what Friday night holds, but he wants to watch a bad film and have a coffee.
