24 Feb Up to Ella
So just finsihed writing this and it didnt save!!
So here’s the short version.
3 hour taxi up to Ella. Checked in to a new hotel with a pool as a treat. (£48)
Pete now has plasters on his foot, behind his ankle, his knee and his thigh. All infected and swelling.
He’s fed up.
So a nice hotel. Er no. A building site.
No women running it, so tools and debris lying around.
Our room stinks of plaster and doesn’t look finished.
The pool is the size of a post stamp.
We opt to have dinner there as we are a tuk tuk ride from the centre of Ella.
Food is awful. No chicken in the chicken dish. No Special Monaara Bread with my prawn curry and special..blah blah bread.
Then the power goes.
Feb 25
We change to a homestay in the center.
Monkeys welcome us..I see my first bird of paradise.
We explore Ella and the train station.
Pete gets some much needed antibiotics.
Feb 26
We go on a forest trail to Nine Arch Rail Bridge. Pine trees planted for rail sleepers.
Loads of wildlife including a very naughty monkey.
We then head up Little Adams Peak.
No longer a quite nature trail as per my 2016 Guide. It now includes a zip wire, a party pool and air rifles.
We wander into town a luxury resort for a scenic sundowner cocktail. Very very posh.
The mist rolls in, so minus the sunset.
