Day 84 HK Express

We fly into Hongkong from Da Nang. The hotel gives us a free luxury transfer which is nice!

We get the train into Hong Kong.. super quick and easy..big panda theme going on!

We drop off our stuff at the Carista Biachi Hotel… more like a hostel and tied to a religious place next door!

We decide to walk along Nathan Road to the front.

Come across some more cartoons.

This is for warning against scams and cyber crime!

The harbour front is vast and looks completely different to Pete.

45 years ago it was a working harbour.

There were loads of junk boats – now there is just one.. for tourists.

There is a big expensive mall and a very strange character.

We stop to people watch and pay £7.50 for a beer… welcome to Hong Kong.We explore Kowloon on the mainland and it’s been restored and modernised compared to when Pete was here – running around in the muck

We end up staying out and Discovery they do an 8pm Symphony of Lights show every evening.

The music is so evocative – quite emotional.

Day 85 Revisiting Petes Childhood

Pete has a list of places he wants to go back to.

Day 86 Hong Kong Parks

Since it’s still sunny we head to Victoria Park on Hong Kong Island.

We take the Star Ferr..which hasn’t changed and is only 50p. Petes like a little kid.

It drops us off in Central, which again had a lovely promenade and parks.

Victoria Park was a green space but now its been concreted and is mainly a recreation space. Tennis courts and running routes.

We find a weight and BMI checker.

I’m obese. Pete is physically muscular.

Nuff said.

In a huff we head to Hongkong Park.

Hong kong park is gorgeous.

Nestled in amongst the high rises.

There are so many turtles and fish! It’s peaceful here.

There is a conservatory with tropical greenery and an aviary.

I love it there. So many birds flying around. It’s so green and clean. There is an aviary which is sooo wrong but I did love seeing the birds.

We really want ‘safe’ food so head to Brick Lane restaurant- Pete gets tradional fish and chips!

Day 87 Hong Kong Island South

We are bus walkers today. Planning a visit south to Aberdeen and the Beach.

Aberdeen market as outdoor and crazy.

Its now indoor and whilst I couldn’t go into the meat bit, the fish bit was filled with live and dead sea creatures.

We walked the length of the ‘river’, with Pete looking for the floating restaurant. Long gone.

Great little display of old pictures, with a few old guys reminiscing.

Then we hit the beach!

At night we join the locals, people watching on the harbour.
