Day 4 – The Land of Smiles.

Unbelievable… we still don’t sleep. Bed too hard. Head still wired to uk time. But we are travelling today.

We manage to get up in time to make checkout by 11am. Zombies.

We head for the Airport and read and relax in the very nice lounge, complete with cactus gardens.

It’s a really easy flight with Scoot budget airline.

I sleep for the 1.5 hour flight.

Other end feels like Thailand from the off.

Easy immigration, sim card bought before we even get out in to our luxury Grab to the hotel.

The Krabi Seabass Hotel is lovely… the bed feels like warm marshmallows.

Space to stretch. Pool. Result!

We wander into Krabi town for tea at the local night market.

They are just taking xmas decorations down.

Big market. Not too busy. Live music.

Spicy veg omlettes; kebab for Pete and bags of fresh fruit.

Ridiculous banana smoothie that is like a giant ice cream!

Sleep is amazing. Thank you sleep Gods!

Day 5 – Pool day

After a long deep sleep we get up just in time to make breakfast.. 9.40am!

We decided we may not leave the pool side today. We don’t.

Late afternoon we pop into town and stumble across a temple.

The white temple has obviously been a busy place, with tourist shop at some time past.

Now just lots of stray dogs.

We spotted a vintage coffee shop yesterday, crammed with books and good food.

So we head there for a browse and chill.. but every book is wrapped in cellophane. Look only.

We have food and I have my very first matcha tea. Nice I think.

We don’t try the special coffee….yet.

We stumble upon a second night market on the way back. Pete stops for crispy ribs.

We get chatting to an American girl touring on her own, brave, whilst trying our first (and my last) durian. Sweet smelly fruit.

We listen to the singers, before the last one is bad enough to make us move on.

Day 6 – 1st Thai Massage

Another fabulous night’s sleep.

We both seem to have picked up some sun yesterday, no idea how as we were in the shade!

I mean, we are a bit red.

After lots of sun cream we have a light breakfast and head into town.

Krabi town is bit sprawling, runs along the river, its nicer when the tide is in like today.

Walking along the river Pete decides to not duck overhead wires and gets a bolt!

Just as well he’s a big tough boy.

Once pete stops crying, we have washing to be done.

We find a place that can do it today for less than a fiver.

We stop for my first mango smoothie of this trip and search for a massage.

Pete needs one for a bad back and that electric shock. I just want to be stretched!

We opt for First Lady Massage..they have a wee kitten running around… plus good reviews.

Pete doesn’t have boxers on so we ALL have a laugh whilst a wee Thai woman holds a towel for him to change. They must see all sorts!

Best massage he’s ever had.

We are hungry and stop at a really ‘rustic’ market stall for prawn and chicken fried rice. Hope we aren’t ill.

The pool calls us for the rest of day.

Night time Pete wants to try the floating restaurant tourist trap. I’m skeptical. But at least the xmas decs are still up.

Actually it was really good with a Thai singing Fly Me to The Moon.. giving us very chilled vibes of back home x

Day 7 – Railay Beach

We decide now Petes bad back, blistered feet and electrocuted head are feeing better, we will take a longtail boat to Railay Beach.

The beach is a well known beauty spot, so we expect it to be rammed.

We pick up a boat off a man with a bald spot, right near where Pete got electrocuted….both in terms of street location and on Petes head.

Maybe Pete too will get a bald spot.

Railay feels like an island- same party type vibes at Phi Phi.. with a lot of hostels, bars and weed places.

But it is gorgeous and we get a fab swim in the sea before walking the area by the caves and cliffs.

Not as many climbers as I thought there would be. It’s supposed to be a big climbing area.

We eat my best food so far – yellow shrimp curry and Pete has half a massssssive chicken. Possibly the biggest chicken in Thailand.

We also briefly see out first monkeys of the trip!

Once back we know we have to think about our next stop.

Its Chinese New Year and everywhere is full or extortionate.

After a crazy couple hours and a bit of panicking, we get 2 x 1 night stays and then a 5 night stay in our fav areas of Koh Lanta.

Not ideal, but all within budget… or abouts.

We have a lazy pool side coffee and head out for smoothies and a beer at the night market.

Can not believe its only been a week. Feels like 3.

Day 8 – Pool day

We are finally over the jet lag, wake at 7.30 naturally!

We wander into town and mooch round the shops – there is a big ‘vintage’ trade.

I love it.

I ditch one of my a ancient shirts for a new-to-me one.

Pete buys a football shirt. There is no helping him.

We also see many Santa’s along side their Chinese New Years decorations.

Pool for rest of day – Petes flip flops rubbing still!

Late afternoon we go back to Signature Thai tea house and have a homemade traditional Thai tea set, followed by ‘Grandma’s’  homemade Thai food.

It’s a bit like being in someone’s family room, with a couple of well behaved kids and grandma. I beat Pete at Connect 4 – twice.

We then plan to go for a massage but then Petes phone packs in… so off to the phone repair shop.

An hour waiting – two smoothies and a beer- he gets it back. Still not working.

Now I really am in charge of directions, bookings and the money ????… yes!!!
