20 Feb 26 Tangalle
We spend the morning on the beach and then get an Uber the 1.5hrs south.
This is as far south as we will go.
We check into Leen Tangalle (£32 with breakie) Right near the beach. Spotless. Larger room. Phew.
The first beach at the end of road is filled with boats and litter. Our hearts sink.
We turn left over a rocky breaker and a white semi flat beach appears, with beach bars.
And we find all the Europeans over 40!
There are a few designated swimming areas, where they have created a man-made rock breaker in the sea to stop the waves.
We find what will be our regular. Sunbeds, nice food.
Pete meets another Pete from Plymouth.
21 – 23 Feb Sleep, Stretch, Eat, Beach and repeat
We form a routine.
The only thing to write is about Pete.
So that mossie bite got worse. It was making his foot swell and was green looking.
We went to a pharmacy and got cream and gauze.
Walked out the pharmacy and across the road. Pete is looking round, not down and puts his bad foot down a drain.
OMG. He is trying to save his flip flop and manages to pull his leg back up.
His skinny legs meant he went in quite far and scraped all his leg.
My kankels and sturdy calves would have stopped me.
Some locals rush over and get it cleaned up with soap.
Two days later his scrape on the leg is all red and green. Back to the pharmacy. Looking down this time.
They have slabs covering the drains..but there are sometimes big gaps between them. Deadly.
With all this there has been no sea swimming for Pete.
The beach bar is lovely though so he’s rested under some trees.
We managed to find a ‘sports bar’ to watch the England Sri Lanka cricket.
This ‘sports bar’ has a fridge and a TV showing the sport. Literally no bar or anything sporty.. except the name lol
On our third trip to the pharmacy to buy more dressings, there are now two young girls serving.
They are all giggly and tell us how much they love England – making heart signs with their hands.
One of them is really pretty and her wee friend tells us she wants a proposal from an English man so she can come to England.
We don’t know anyone to recommend!
On the way out they high five each other – super cute.
Petes now feeling ill. Hope the antibiotic ream works!
