Day 34 – Kanchanaburi Setting off for Kanachaburi today. Very excited to see the town, museums, and of course the location of the Bridge Over the River Kwai. Reasonable start to the day – loads of banana pancakes!!! – then a minibus from Bangkok station for 3 hours.
Day 31 – Surat Thani Today we head to Bangkok via Surat Thani. Taxi then bus. We stopped the night in Surat Thani and went to a shopping center for food and a swim costume for Susan. A nothing sort of place..just a stopover before travelling somewhere else. Stayed in a nice little hotel next…
Day 28 – Phuket – Mai Khao We spotted a local ‘bus’ the day before, to Mai Khao, which is a really quiet part of Phuket in the North. So we make our way to where we ‘think‘ it starts. We are in luck. Bundled in with the locals! Also ridiculously cheap.
Day 26 – Phuket Old Town & Private Tour Our last morning on Koh Phi Phi. After a relaxing breakfast we headed for the ferry to take us to Phuket. We don’t have to wade out to this one, but one hell of a step on and off..you need to be fit!
Day 22 – Koh Phi Phi Today we our heading to the island of Koh Phi Phi – famous for “The Beach” film and James Bond Island. Ferry /Speedboat at 8.30.. this time no drama!
Day 18 – Khlong Dao Beach We ‘think’ we have a routine [update, we don’t] with another beautiful run on the beach, it is paradise here. Soon on a tuk-tuk to our new accommodation on Koh Lanta – “My Home Lantawadee”. We are upgraded to a Thai Villa!
Day 15 – Klong Khong Beach Great start to the day with early breakfast and head to the ferry and to our next island – Koh Lanta. Turns out the ferry is a large speedboat ???? – for 3 hours. It’s actually pleasant enough and goes really fast. (Funny that..being a speedboat!)
Day 12 – The Land of Smiles Very excited to be heading off to Thailand today! Another island..Koh Lipe. We enjoyed Malaysia, but there’s not a sense of warmth or friendliness from the locals – especially those working in the tourism industry. Where do we start with the trip from Langkawi to Koh Lipe?!!
