Day 26 – Phuket Old Town & Private Tour

Our last morning on Koh Phi Phi.

After a relaxing breakfast we headed for the ferry to take us to Phuket.

We don’t have to wade out to this one, but one hell of a step on and off..you need to be fit!

We arrive in Phuket Harbour and wander around a bit trying to get a bus or Bolt – as we wanted to avoid the taxi mafia.

Ended up in a taxi anyway!

Bus was 90 mins wait – so they said. ????

We booked the Xin Lor hotel. A total bargain and is in the centre.

Modern, quirky and quite serene.

Love it.

We’ve only 2 days here so we hit the center.

Like Penang, it’s a bit dusty and arty.

I (Pete) had a good old fashioned beefburger from a cool restaurant and have to say it was immense!

Luckily for any of our friends or family reading this, there’s no food pics! ????

We end up with a driver, Mr Somart, and visiting the ViewPoint and the Gold Buddha.

More monkeys!

Both good.

Phuket ViewPoint

Then he begs us to go to a gem factory so he can get free petrol.

An hour later…..

Night time is a wander as Pete is a bit ropey.

Day 27 – Amazing Mall

Today, we walk what feels like miles to the Centre Festival – a huge mall.

Lovely air con though.

It’s huge with the most fascinating food halls.. serving wine and oysters in one bit, to mash and beef stew!

My dad would love it here!!!

Just your average cuppacino!

We opted for Chinese.

People watching in the evening, not much else to do.

We are missing the Phuket Festival by 1 day, but the decorations are up!

It’s for Chinese New Year, so millions of Chinese tourists.

Overall we weren’t great fans of Phuket Old Town.

Very touristy, too much traffic, and overpriced.

The Buddha and Temple were the highlight, plus the ViewPoint…oh and my delicious ????.
